Hey church family! So many of us were impacted this weekend by the storms and tornadoes. Whether our own homes were impacted or someone close to us, many people are in need in our area. As we’ve talked with families in our church and surrounding area, we wanted to share a few ways you can help.
- Give financially. If you feel led to give financially, you can designate your check with “Disaster Relief” or give online and select “Disaster Relief 2024.” Our elders and benevolence team will pray and wisely seek how to steward those funds, with a focus on (a) families affected in our own church; (b) families and the organization of Harvest Alliance Church in Minden, IA; (c ) other families affected in our area. If you are someone who has been affected, please let us know.
- Donate goods. You can bring any donations to our church building on Sundays during our 9AM and 11AM gatherings (or during the week between 9AM-5PM, Monday through Thursday). We will take the donations to the Neola Area Community Center. Please track with their Facebook page for updated lists of what they need and do not need.
- Volunteer. Here’s a great way to serve in Minden! Harvest Alliance Church is partnering with Samaritan’s Purse to coordinate volunteer teams serving in the area. If you want to serve, here’s the details.
-
They’ll have safety meetings each day at 7:30AM and 12:30PM at Harvest’s parking lot (727 Main Street, Minden, IA);
-
At these meetings, you’ll get connected to a team to serve; or better yet, invite friends from your City Group or Bible Study to come serve with you!
-
Must be at least 14 years old to partner with Samaritan’s Purse. (If you’re looking for ways for your younger children to serve, still let us know and we’ll connect you to other opportunities!)
-
Brings boots and gloves and equipment if you have them; they’ll have some equipment available onsite.
-
Carpool to the church parking lot if possible.
-
- Keep being Jesus people! Many of you are already serving your neighbors, checking in on your friends and family, and praying for people who were impacted. Keep doing that. As you follow Jesus, He will give you power, creativity, and wisdom for how you can serve best.
